Factors to Consider

Short Description
An alarm system which alerts a caregiver of a person's attempt to leave their bed or chair via use of a pressure sensitive pad. There are five distinct alarm tones, which allow a specific tone to be assigned to a specific user and to ensure the tone is different to other alarms in the nearby area. It also includes an Auto Pause which delays activation of the unit until it is fully set up and the user positioned correctly and Auto Reset, which shuts the alarm off when the user sits or lies back down. This system is battery powered with an audible low battery warning.

More Details
The alarm has five distinct alarm tones for instances where there are multiple users.
Auto Pause allows for moving and positioning the user and/or setting up the system.
There are different sensor options for bed and / or chair dependant on the needs of the user.
The alarm has an audible low battery warning.
Optional sound dampening plug.
Can have an alarm with a volume of 95db at one metre.
Recessed on/off deterrs tampering.

Mount
Two options are available for mounting the alarm, a saddle mount or a Velcro hook and loop mount.

Batteries
The alarm is powered by a 9V battery.

Method Of Use
The alarm attaches to the chair, wheelchair or bed out of the reach of the user.
A pressure sensor pad is placed under the user (in the case of a chair or bed sensor) or around the user (in the case of a belt).
If the user exits the bed or chair an alarm will sound providing a warning to caregivers.
The system then resets when the user is returned to the chair or bed.

Safety
The sound-dampening plug is intended to drastically reduce the alarm volume in crowded areas where an attendant is nearby.
Do not use the dampening plug if the user can/will be travelling out of hearing range of the attendant.

Warranty
There is a lifetime warranty on the alarm unit and a one-year warranty on the sensor pads and belts.

Safety and Maintenance
Refer to the supplier and manufacturer manual for maintenance instructions and safety warnings.

Standards
Some equipment needs to meet Australian or other standards. Standards may relate to materials, manufacturing and installation. To find out if a product meets Australian Standards check with the supplier or look at the Novitatech website ().
