Factors to Consider

Short Description
A pressure mat that activates a battery operated alarm when pressure is released on the switch. This product is designed to be used in a person's bed, where the person is at risk of wandering away or of falling. Depending on where the pad is placed on the bed the alarm will sound if the person sits up in bed or if they get out of bed. Optional interface with nurse call bell system available.

More Details
The pressure sensitive rectangular bed pad is contained within a removable washable cover that has a velour top and a slip resistant rubber surface on its underside.
The alarm pad is housed within a fluid resistant vinyl cover that is secured by a hook and loop section.
The pressure mat is connected to a battery operated alarm buzzer via a five-metre cord. The length of the cord can be extended by the addition of a 10-metre cord, should the alarm need to be placed further away from the person in the bed.
The alarm can be kept in the bedroom or placed in the corridor. If placed in the room, the noise may remind the person not to stand.
The buzzer alarm is powered by three LR44 batteries.
There is an on/off switch and volume control on the side of the alarm.
Sometimes the pad can be positioned under the mattress.
Bed pads may deteriorate depending on the individual's movements distorting the internal contact sheets. Replacement contact sheets are available.
The cover may be washed according to the manufacturer's instructions to maintain the life of the cover.

Options
Nurse call interface - The bed pad may be linked to an existing nurse call system by using a single pin plug similar to the nurse call plug. A double adapter may be provided so that the standard nurse call button as well as the bed pad can be plugged into the nurse call bell wall.
Nurse call plug is available with either a single black band or double black band.
Extension cords - 10-metre extension cords may be clipped between the bed pad and the buzzer alarm or between the bed pad and the nurse call plug.
