Short Description
A pressure mat that activates a battery operated alarm when pressure is released on the switch. This product is designed to be used in a person's chair, where the person is at risk of wandering away or of falling. Optional interface with nurse call bell system available.
More Details
The pressure sensitive square chair pad is contained within a removable washable cover that has a velour top and a slip resistant rubber surface on its underside.
The alarm pad is housed within a fluid resistant vinyl cover that is secured by a hook and loop section.
The pressure mat is connected to a battery operated alarm buzzer via a five-metre cord. The length of the cord can be extended by the addition of a 10-metre cord, should the alarm need to be placed further away from the person sitting in the chair.
The buzzer will activate when slight pressure is released as a person begins to stand up and, thus, a carer may be alerted before the person has fully stood up.
When the buzzer is placed near the person sitting in the chair, it may be used as a deterrent to standing, as the high-pitched noise will stop once the person sits again.
The buzzer alarm is powered by three LR44 batteries.
There is an on/off switch and volume control on the side of the alarm.
The cover may be washed according to the manufacturer's instructions to maintain the life of the cover.
Chair pads may deteriorate depending on an individual's movements, which might distort the internal contact sheets. These sheets can be replaced.
Options
Nurse call interface - The chair may be linked to an existing nurse call system by using a single pin plug similar to the nurse call plug. A double adapter may be provided so that the standard nurse call button as well as the chair pad can be plugged into the nurse call bell wall.
Nurse call plug is available with either a single black band or double black band.
Extension cords - 10-metre extension cords may be clipped between the chair pad and the buzzer alarm or between the chair pad and the nurse call plug.
