Sunrise Medical Jay J3 Back

ILC Reference NO 43:66:049
Item sourced from ILC VIC database

Jay J3 Back

Factors to Consider
Use of this backrest allows the user to maintain seat depth when adjusting the backrest angle.
The upholstery is designed to draw moisture away from the user and may be appropriate for users with thermo regulatory problems.
The backrest can be adjusted while the client is sitting on the wheelchair.
The Jay 3 can be installed in a reversed position if more pelvic support is needed. The brackets would need to be positioned in reverse position respectively.
Jay 3 deep contour may provide more space for 'Pear shaped ' clients.
Installing a back support on a wheelchair may affect the centre of gravity of the wheelchair and may cause the wheelchair to tip backwards potentially resulting in injury.
Always assess for the potential need for anti-tippers or amputee axle adapter brackets to be added to the wheelchair to help increase stability.
Do not use J3 back to push or lift wheelchair. Improper use may cause the back to unexpectedly detach from the wheelchair.
Do not use the J3 back handle to lift wheelchair. It is intended only for back removal.
The J3 back is designed to be compatible with most wheelchairs with the following exception: wheelchairs that are angularly adjustable, recline or tilt and result in a back angle greater than 60 degrees from the vertical should not be used.

Short Description
The J3 removable back is designed to replace existing wheelchair upholstery and consists of a firm outer shell and foam covering. It is compatible with a range of wheelchair backrest uprights due to the use of adjustable mounting brackets. The J3 is available in a selection of shapes and sizes with a choice of contour depth, backrest width, backrest height and level of support. May be customised using a SpineAlign kit.
