Factors to Consider
Tetrahedral cells and cover can help reduce shear and improve pressure relief.
The tetrahedral cells shift and resettle with movement of the user.
Punctures will affect individual air cells only.
There are many things to consider when selecting pressure care products including nutrition, skin moisture, level of mobility, age, shear, friction, location of pressure ulcer (if present) and hygiene. Any comments regarding level of pressure care is a suggestion made by suppliers as a guide to assist with selection, and this may differ from brand to brand. When selecting pressure care products it is strongly advised that a comprehensive assessment is undertaken by a health professional to encourage correct product selection and monitoring of product effectiveness.

Short Description
The Vicair Academy Junior range consists of the Junior Back System, the Junior Seat System and the pommel. The cushioning on all three components is comprised of hundreds of small triangular shaped air filled cells that provide dynamic body support, pressure reduction and a degree of postural support. Each compartment can be adjusted in cell density to mould to the users contours. The seat cushion has four compartments with a split between the two front compartments to accommodate the pommel. It is available in five sizes. The back cushion has eight compartments and is mounted on a removable ABS plastic shell. It is height and depth adjustable and comes in three sizes.

More Details
Features
The triangular or tetrahedral shaped air filled cells have a low friction level when in contact with each other and are able to continuously adapt and conform to the bodies contours. This aims to provide a combination of good pressure relief with reduced shearing and a high degree of stability.
User specific requirements can be accommodated by the addition or removal of tetrahedral cells from each of the compartments.
Two types of machine washable covers are available for the seat cushions and pommel. The Comfair cover has a breathable top fabric and the incontinence cover is made of a vapour permeable, waterproof material. Both covers have two-way stretch.
The seat cushions have four compartments with a split between the front two compartments to accommodate a pommel if required.
The seat cushion comes in five sizes - the smaller three sizes have a height of 40mm and the two larger sizes have a height of 60mm.
The back cushion has eight compartments. The side compartments have a high cell density providing lateral support.
The back cushion comes with a machine washable, breathable, two-way stretch cover.

Maintenance
Refer to the supplier and manufacturer manual for maintenance instructions and safety warnings.
