Short Description
A plywood boomerang shaped transfer board designed to assist in sliding transfers, particularly from cars.

Price Guide
Refer to supplier information for pricing details.

Features
The board is constructed from marine plywood which has been coated to provide a surface which has minimal resistance to sliding movement.

It has been shaped to fit around protrusions such as wheelchair wheels and car door frames so that a firm, continuous path of travel is possible.

It has been designed to assist in transfers where a dependant person is being moved by an assistant and compliments the use of lifting belts and sliding mats.

The Tech Assist Trans slide system which consists of a sliding mat and a pad with handholds works with this board.

The boomerang board is available with optional grip tape on the base of the board.

Available in two sizes; small and large.

Method Of Use
1) Position wheelchair at 90 degrees to other surface (bed, chair, car)
2) If possible have surfaces at same height
3) Remove arm of wheelchair if possible, (if not, having the chair at less of an angle to other surface will help to get around the arm of wheel of chair. Some models of transfer boards have a cut out to go over the wheel.)
4) Ensure brakes are applied
5) Firmly place end of board under leading thigh, (enough so that the board doesn't slip away when full weight is transferred to board) and the other end securely onto opposing surface making sure the width, at both ends of the board are fully supported, to prevent tipping. (Preferably, boards should be place equally on both surfaces).
6) Slide across board. Transferring is made easier if the client can help as much as possible by using lead arm to push down on board and other arm to push off from chair this also helps to stabilize the board.
7) Once transfer is complete board can be removed.
