RB Systems Electric Spinner

Short Description

The driver can operate the joystick whilst using the spinner knob, keeping control of the vehicle at all times. Three models are available.

Price Guide

More Details
The spinner knob is made of metal and plastic with a joystick for electric function controls. It is secured to the steering wheel column by a cylindrical bracket with a platform which the spinner knob is secured to. It is detachable from the bracket when not required.

A palm grip is required to operate the spinner knob, and the joystick requires some finger dexterity. The manufacture states that the unit is suitable for 99% of vehicle types.

The spinner knob can be programmed to operate up to 10 functions including automatic or manual lights (including high and low beam switching), left and right indicator signals, horn, window wipers (intermittent, low and high speeds), window washers and hazard lights. All functions are 'instant activation', meaning the user does not need to cancel the previous signal before engaging the other signal command.

The spinner knob features programmable signal deactivation (called "Smart Unstop") which enables the user to manually or automatically de-activate signals. This means that whilst the signals can be cancelled manually at any time via the joystick, the time period for automatic signal cancellation is programmable from 10 to 60 seconds to suit the user's preference and driving environment. The Smart Unstop feature prevents premature cancellation while the brake is applied. This may be useful when driving through urban areas (e.g. when sitting at traffic lights etc). Once the brake is released the timer automatically engages again.

The device is suitable for use with 12 volt vehicles. It has an in-built battery sleep mode to preserve battery life and a low battery alert.

The spinner knob can be used with a range of switches.

Models
Wireless Radio Frequency Spinner Knob with a joystick
Hard-wired Keypad for Hand Control Levers
Free standing Remote Control

All activation models are compatible with most CAN BUS electrical systems and computerised vehicles (eg. Audi, Citroen, Volkswagen, Peugeot, Toyota, Chrysler, Honda and Mitsubishi etc.).

Safety Features
All existing vehicle controls remain dominant. If an able bodied driver uses the vehicle, their activation of electronic controls i.e. lights, wipers, indicators etc will all override the spinner knob.

Installation
Method of fitting: The bracket is attached with two stainless tighteners which closes the clamp of the bracket to the steering wheel. The spinner knob itself is removable via a quick release button which detaches the knob from the bracket.

The manufacturer recommends that the system be installed by an authorised RB Systems agent. Installation can be performed before or after a vehicle requires modifications. Installation times will vary depending on the electrical system of your vehicle.

Additional Comment
Inspection of Modifications
In South Australia modifications to a vehicle must be inspected and approved by Transport SA.

Driver's Licence Requirements
A driver who has an illness or disability which affects their ability to drive is required to provide Medical Records at the Motor Registration Division with a certificate from their Doctor stating that they are fit to drive.

An assessment is arranged to establish that they have the physical ability to drive and what modifications are recommended. Further training may be necessary and a reassessment when the person can demonstrate their ability to handle the vehicle safely with the modifications.

The licence is then issued with the appropriate restrictions regarding type of vehicle and modifications required. Insurance companies should also be notified to ensure continued indemnity.

Warranty
Two year warranty.

Standards
Specific Australian Standards or other standards may be applicable to
the materials used in, and the manufacturing and installation of products. Compliance with relevant Standards is indicated by written certification that a product has been tested and assessed as compliant with specified Australian Standards. Purchasers are advised to check with the supplier or manufacturer of an item as to its compliance with the relevant Australian Standard(s).
