Short Description
Capstan head taps are taps which are comprised of four 'capstans' or levers, to form a cross head shape. Available in a variety of styles and colours. The ease of turning the taps on and off is improved with the use of a ceramic disc valve or similar, instead of a standard washer. Suited to both domestic and public applications.

Most plumbing suppliers stock capstan style taps. Dependent on the length, shape and finish of the tap head, the capstan taps can provide adequate grip for many people.
Capstan heads are specified in the Australian Standards for designing for access and mobility as an acceptable alternative to lever tapware for public facilities.
