POINTS TO CONSIDER:

* Fixed and non fixed.
* Durability.
* Ease of cleaning/maintenance.
* Difficulty of installation.
* Area of use eg. wet area, heavy traffic.
* Resistance to stains/fire.
* Insulation factor (floor temperature to cold feet).
* Comfort for periods of standing.
* Finishing of joins and edges (to prevent tripping).
* Length and conditions of guarantee.

OPTIONS:

* Carpet, carpet squares, tiles, slate, vinyl.
* An underlay which stops loose mats slipping is available.

SELECTING A SYSTEM:

* Carpets can be stain resistant or can be coated with a
protective substance such as Scotchguard for people dealing
with spills or incontinence.
* Durable flooring, which will stand up to wear and tear, is
preferable for wheelchair users.
* Vinyl flooring allows good wheelchair manoeuvrability.
