Short Description
A floor mounted, multipurpose hand control unit designed to operate the accelerator and brake. A lever is installed next to the drivers seat which operates the brake and accelerator. Two models are available, as is customisation to suit individual requirement.

To accelerate, the user pulls the lever backward, to brake the user pushes the lever forward. A hill control function is present and activated by pressing a button on the control. This holds the vehicle stationary, allowing the user to remove their from the control eg to apply the hand brake. Conventional foot pedal function is maintained with this device installed. Should be used in conjunction with a steering device.

A four way joystick for primary electrical functions - indicators, hazard, windscreen washer / wipers and headlights.
The horn can be used with a separate button on top.

Carospeed E (electrical unit)
Similar features to the basic unit. Also includes compact, joystick controls for indicators, windscreen washer / wipers, headlights and hazard lights. A press button horn switch is also present.
Installation
The manufacturer recommends that the hand controls be installed at their suppliers premises to ensure correct installation.

12 month warranty.
Licence & Insurance Requirements
In Western Australia, Department for Planning and Infrastructure's Vehicle Examiners, (Licensing Division) must approve modifications to vehicles. Providing the modifications meet all requirements, a modification permit will be issued and the cost of the permit may be waived for drivers with disabilities.
Assessment and training in the most appropriate driving controls should be in consultation with a Driver Trained Therapist, at Driver Access (9381 0166) and specialised Driving Instructor.
Drivers of the modified vehicles must have their Driver's Licence endorsed with a conditional code stating the necessary vehicle modification needed by the driver with a disability.
To ensure Insurance cover, the vehicle owner should advise their Insurance company of the approved vehicle modifications, and the endorsed Driver's Licence where the modifications are for the driver with a disability.
