More Details
Includes anodized aluminium continuous tracking which can be mounted in a room or throughout a house. The tracking is mounted onto the ceiling; the hoist unit attaches to the track and holds a spreader bar with three hooks at each end to attach the sling loops. The materials are corrosion resistant for use in damp environments.

The tracking system features options which allows the hoist unit to merge onto tracks turning off in several directions. This could allow a track running down a hallway to have several turns into various rooms. A whole room can be covered by placing tracking at each end of the room with a another track bridging between them. A free standing frame is available for use with the portable model.

Features
CONTROLS - vertical movement is controlled via a handset attached to the unit by a curly cord. Horizontal movement can be performed manually or be powered (DH2000) by the use of the handset or an infra red remote control. The handset control automatically switches off one minute after use.

BATTERY CHARGING - the hoist can be charged when connected to the charging station. Two heavy duty fully sealed batteries are supplied per hoist. The model DH2000 is able to complete up to 140 lifts (with 85 kg) per battery charge, while the DH1000 can complete 25 lifts. Charging time for the DH1000 is a maximum of 6 hours, while for the DH2000 it is a maximum charge time of 8 hours. Power switches off automatically to protect the batteries when voltage drops below 17 volts. The hoist features a low battery warning.

SPREADER BAR - the model DH2000 features a spreader bar with hooks at each end to attach slings. The model DH1000 features hooks to attach slings which are directly mounted at each end of the hoist unit.

SLINGS - Several specially designed slings such as vests are in the Guldmann range. (see separate database entry for details). A lifting frame to lift a person in a lying position is available.

Models
DH1000 - this is the portable model in the range. It can be placed and removed from the tracking by a clip. This model has the option of a Swing Kit, which allows the hoist to pass from room to room underneath the door frame, in situations where a permanent installation with the rail through the door is undesirable.

DH2000 - this model is fixed to the ceiling tracking. It is available with a manual operation along the tracking (model DH2000M) or with a powered operation along the tracking (model DH2000P).

DH4000 - similar to the DH2000 model except with an increased load capacity.

GH2 - a lightweight model which is fixed to the ceiling tracking.

Safety Features
There is an emergency stop and lowering function. The hoist automatically stops lifting if the lift is not performed vertically or if the lifting strap is twisted.

The GH2 also features an emergency stop cord.

Caution
It is recommended that prior to using this product, training in manual handling and the correct use of assistive devices should be undertaken.

Worksafe issued a Safety and Health alert in March 2007 regarding portable overhead patient hoists. Some of these hoist systems are supplied with an arm extension used to attach the hoist unit to the overhead track. If the arm extension has an open hook there is a risk that the hook may be displaced during operation when moved laterally or rotated.

Recommendations:
Open hooks used to attach a hoist unit to the overhead track should be provided with a safety catch.
Hooks used as a means of suspension on any other patient hoist must be designed to minimise the risk of displacement.
