Short Description
An overhead fixed track powered hoist with spreader bar attachment that may be used to lift and transfer persons from a seated or lying position, or to or from the floor. Suitable for healthcare facility or domestic use. Available in mains or battery powered models with manual or powered traverse. A portable model is available. There are three choices of lifting capacity.

The tracks are fully customised and can be mounted within a room or throughout a house. A single track is mounted on the ceiling, constructed from extruded aluminium, with a white coating. The track can be installed in straight, intersecting, and curved lengths (XY). The hoist unit which houses the motor and batteries attaches to the track and holds a spreader bar with three hooks at each end to hold the sling and occupant. The spreader bar is padded. The hoist features powered (battery or mains) raise and lower and either manual or powered traverse (forward or backward along the tracks). The user is suspended in a sling attached to a spreader bar, at the base of a lifting tape The controls are hand held on an extendable cord.
A portable model is also available. This has manual movement along the track, but electric raising and lowering functions.
Features
SLINGS Kerry Equipment Swift Fit range of slings are used with this hoist. The following styles are available:
- General Purpose (with / without head support)
- Full Body with Head Support / divided leg
- Hammock Sling with commode aperture
The slings are available in three sizes, feature attachment straps which are colour coded for size. Each sling is available in a closed weave synthetic fabric or open weave netting. Additional specific information regarding these slings is available.
CONTROLS are hand held on an extendable cord, attached to the hoist unit. Can be used by attendant or occupant.
Series 100: Control unit has push button switches, each button has directional arrows.
Series 200 and 300: Water resistant hand held control with an assist button (emits an audible alarm), soft touch push buttons with directional arrows.
POWER SOURCE is through 2 x 12v batteries which are sealed, maintenance free and concealed within the hoist unit.
BATTERY RECHARGING is achieved by returning the hoist to the end of the tracking for charging. Charging is fully automatic via 240 volt mains power. A green indicator light on the hoist unit indicates when batteries are charging.
SAFETY FEATURE includes weight overload limiting device prevents the safe load capacity being exceeded, visual and audible low battery warning, emergency locking motor to prevent the user being lowered unintentionally, emergency stop pull toggle (suspended from hoist unit), emergency lowering pull toggle in case of battery failure.

Wispa 100 Series
Features: can lift from the floor, can be used on a gantry, load capacity of 130kg, LED charge indicator light (located on hoist unit). Where battery operated, the hoist is returned to the track end for recharging. The 100 series can be used on XY tracking.
Models: Model options available including:
- Mains powered manual traverse (W): suits tacks up to 3 meters. Provides mains powered raise / lower with manual traverse.
- Battery powered manual traverse (BW): Provides battery powered raise / lower with manual traverse. Low battery indicator light.
- Battery powered with power traverse (WLB): Provides battery powered raise / lower and traverse. Low battery indicator light.
- Mains powered with power traverse (WL): suits tacks up to 3 meters. Provides mains powered raise / lower and traverse.
- Wispa Portable (WP): Compact and lightweight with carry case provided. Battery powered raise / lower with manual traverse. Low battery indicator light.
Wispa 200 and 300 Series
Features: can lift from the floor, can be used on a gantry, self diagnostic features (hoist will beep if there is a problem), soft start / stop, variable speed facility activated by the hand held control, LED charge indicator light (located on hoist unit), hand held control. Where battery operated, the hoist is returned to the track end for recharging. The 200 and 300 series can be used on XY tracking.
Models: Model options available including:
Series 200 (load capacity of 200kg)
200L: Provides battery powered raise and lower only.
200LT: Provides battery powered raise / lower with manual traverse.
200LTX: Provides battery powered raise / lower and traverse on XY tracking.
Series 300 (load capacity of 300kg)
300: Provides battery powered raise, lower and traverse on XY tracking.
Options
Weight Monitor: Attaches to the lifting tape and weighs up to 300kg in increments of 200gm. The monitor is provided with a carry case for storage and portability. Allows for measurement of BMI (Body Mass Index) from 30kg upwards. Features toggle display for kg and lbs.

Caution
Worksafe issued a Safety and Health alert in March 2007 regarding portable overhead patient hoists. Some of these hoist systems are supplied with an arm extension used to attach the hoist unit to the overhead track. If the arm extension has an open hook there is a risk that the hook may be displaced during operation when moved laterally or rotated.
Recommendations:
Open hooks used to attach a hoist unit to the overhead track should be provided with a safety catch.
Hooks used as a means of suspension on any other patient hoist must be designed to minimise the risk of displacement.
