More Details
The chair is switched on using a small light touch button located to the side and front of the seat. The wheels provide a power assisted direct drive to the rear wheel drive system while the user steers the chair using the hand rims. The wheelchair occupant must use only the push rims as the micro processor senses the force being applied to the rims and applies double (Type A) or triple (Type B) that force. If there is discrepancy in muscle strength between the upper limbs, a combination of Types may be utilised to bias one wheel. The system does not sense force being applied to the tyres.
Braking of the chair is achieved through pressure or grip on the push rims. The micro processor detects the resistance and ceases applying drive force to the wheels.
The manual wheelchair brake is used in the usual way for 'parking'.

Models
Type A:
This model is recommended for wheelchair users who are just strong enough to use normal manual push rims to move around in wheelchairs but who have difficulty achieving normal speed, or in covering long distances, or climbing hills. Push rims are stainless steel.
Type B:
This model is recommended for wheelchair users who have difficulty operating the hand rims to move around and require additional support to do so. Supplementary power is activated with relatively light application of the push rims. Push rims are plastic coated stainless steel.
