Short Description
A rigid framed, steel wheelchair with a tilt function and an adjustable angle backrest. It comes standard as a transit chair, and is available in six standard and customised seat widths. Two models - the Comfort Plus that has fully upholstered contoured seating, and the Comfort Plus Custom that can adjust to accommodate all types of seating and postural supports. The chair has a rigid steel frame which features a push bar and adjustable seat to back angle (spanner required). Two press down, foot operated levers located between the rear wheels operate the tilt function (left lever) and braking (right lever).
The Comfort Plus features a deluxe seat consisting of a sprung base with foam overlay and vinyl insert, and a deluxe backrest consisting of spring inserts with foam overlay, backrest side wings and fabric insert. It has 300mm (12") rear wheels, height adjustable armrests, waterfall arm pads, and swing away legrests. It is available in six seat widths and has an adjustable seat depth - providing seven seat depth measurements .
The Comfort Plus Custom allows upholstery and frame types to be mixed and matched. Configurations include a basic base with no backrest frame for mounting of seat modules; a plush backrest with a seat board for mounting pressure or custom cushions; foam and ply backrest and / or seat; back fame with seat board to mount off the shelf back rests or positioning modules; and a back frame with slung seat upholstery.
The Custom is available in six standard widths with the seat depth individually adjustable up to 550mm (22") from the centre back.
The chair does not fold for transport but can be reduced to a more compact shape by removing the legrests and armrests, and either folding forward or reclining the backrest.
Features
REAR WHEELS are 300mm (12") wheel size with pneumatic tyres is standard but 559mm (22") is an option. The larger option permits some position change but not functional self propelling.
FRONT CASTORS are 180mm (7") microcellular.
FOOTRESTS are removable, height adjustable (spanner required) and swing away. Footplates are plastic. Elevating legrests and padded calf supports may be selected.
ARMRESTS - are removable and height adjustable with pads that can be moved forwards and backwards and dropped to seat height for sliding transfers. They are full length with a waterfall edge and padded side guard.
BRAKES - are foot activated by pushing down on the right rear lever and released by lifting the lever with your foot.
