Factors to Consider
Speech can be recorded in any language to suit people from a non English speaking background.
Level changing switch requires fine motor movement that may be difficult for some users.
The Tech/Scan 32 Plus and Tech/Scan 8 Plus feature an auditory message prompt (1.5 seconds per message cell, and 1.5 seconds per auditory row message prompt) for clients with visual issues.
Shatterproof case made of high impact ABS plastic is drop resistant and able to withstand rough handling.
Water resistant for easy cleaning and use in adverse environmental conditions.
Number of levels, amount of memory and scanning access needs to be chosen at time of ordering. This may limit the use of the device by people with changing needs.
For most efficient production of communication overlay 'legal paper' is required. If A4 paper is used to print out overlays the users support team will have to cut and paste sheets together.
The inbuilt keyguard on the Tech Series is removable for cleaning by using a tool such as pliers to hold the nut on the back of the screw, while using a screwdriver to undo the screws.
Tech/Caps can be used to cover cells that are not being used and removed as appropriate to expand use of the device without altering the keyboard arrangement.

The Tech Series series of electronic communication devices have digitised (human recorded) speech output. 4, 8 or 32 message key layouts with 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 or 12 levels are available depending on the model chosen.

Scanning can be directed with a single switch, two switch or via direct keyboard access.
Scanning modes are available - linear, row/column and step.
Three different scan speeds available, namely, slow at 4.5 seconds, medium at 2.25 seconds and fast at 1.0 seconds.
Beeping tone available to augment visual cues.
Prompt lights are located in the grid above the overlay so there is no need to punch holes or modify the overlay.
Auditory beep to assist with visual cues.
8 message model (Tech Scan 8) contains 8 levels.
32 message model (Tech Scan 32) is available with 2, 4 or 6 levels.
