Factors to Consider
The combination of direct and indirect accessing modes makes this device useful for users who have changing accessing requirements or as a multi user device for a department.
Various features are adjusted using small dip switches located on the left end of the device. These switches can easily be knocked out of the desired settings due to their prominent position. This can be avoided by using device in its carry case.
Robust case made from aluminium and high impact plastic.
Lamination of message overlay can reduce sensitivity of the keypad for some users.
All MessageMate 40 models have 'Message Builder' feature which allows the creation of phrases from recorded single messages








Short Description
The MessageMate is a hand held, electronic communication device.It features a robust case, direct or indirect access using one or two switches, and digitised (human quality) recorded speech. Single level models are available with either 20 or 40 message locations and with speech memory ranging from 20 to 240 seconds. Multilevel MessageMate 40 has 5 or 10 minute speech memory across 4 levels.

Volume is adjusted using a dial (on/off dial)

Print Output
No print out is available.

Accessing Options
In standard mode the device is operated directly by applying pressure to the key locations with a finger or pointer.
A keyguard with 13mm holes is available as an additional item.

Scanning Modes available
Single switch with interrupted or automatic, linear, and row/column scanning .
Two switch with directed or inverse scanning.
The stepping rate of the scanning lights can be adjusted with time settings between 0.25 and 8 seconds.
Accept time can also be adjusted - four settings are available.

MessageMate 20
Message keys arranged in two rows of 10 keys. Keys are 19mm x 19mm.
Flexible message arrays 20, 5, 2 or 1 (larger key sizes when using less than 20 messages per page).
MessageMate 40 and Multilevel MessageMate
The overlay consists of 4 rows of 10 keys which are a similar size to the keys on the 20 key overlay.
The entire keypad area measures 190mm x 76mm.
It is possible to combine the keys on the MessageMate 40 to create 10, 4, 2, or 1 larger keys.
4 levels for recording messages on the Multilevel MessageMate 40 - only 36 message cells available per level - other 4 cells used for moving between levels.
Comes with Message Builder feature that allows the user to combine words and phrases from different keys to create a single message.

Memory
Model 20/75 has 20 keys and 75 seconds of memory.
Model 20/150 has 20 keys and 150 seconds of memory.
Model 40/75 has 40 keys and 75 seconds of memory.
Model 40/150 has 40 keys and 150 seconds of memory.
Model 40/600 has 40 keys and 10 mins of memory (multilevel).
Model 40/300 has 40 keys and 5 mins of memory (multilevel).

Programming
Simple process of recording human voice (digitised speech)
If a new overlay is required the device must be re programmed (other than Multilevel MessageMate).

Batteries and Charging
The MessageMate has internal rechargeable batteries.
