Factors to Consider
Flexible vocabulary storage options allowing use of simple Minspeak sequences, core vocabulary, whole phrases, and dynamic extended vocabulary options.
Colour screen allows for use of colour coding to assist with language learning and assists the user when scanning for message types and linking cells.
Multiple keyboard configurations allow overlay to be customised to individual needs and allow for development through different stages of language skill development.
Pre-programmed core vocabulary main page included in different key location overlays
Multiple user areas allow device to be used with a number of clients or can be used to store transitional overlays.
Digitised (human) recorded voice requires set-up using a person of the same sex and similar age as user.
Programming requires pre-planning and consideration of the vocabulary storage system as a whole. Involvement of a speech pathologist is required to enable consistent and appropriate overlay development.

Short Description
The SpringBoard is a portable, dynamic display communication device using digitised (human recorded) speech. A variety of pre-made pages are available as well as the option of programming your own pages using Minspeak or linked dynamic displays in 4,8,15 or 32 cell arrays. Access methods include touch screen, single and dual switch scanning, joystick and infrared head pointing.

Auditory Output
The SpringBoard uses high quality, digitised recorded speech.
A bilingual Spanish/English version is available
The voice volume can be adjusted.
Visual display
The SpringBoard has a 19 cm colour touch-screen display (measured diagonally).
The main screen contains a set of core message keys, an activity row, and a text display area.
A number of situation specific activity pages are included and can be modified to suit individual needs.
Additional pages can be programmed as required.
Message key size and location options are set for 4, 8, 15 and 32 keys
The activity row contains 4 dynamic message keys, designed to provide opportunity for extended vocabulary choices and page linking options.
When a message cell is activated the programmed text appears in the text display area.
Users can use Minsymbols, PCS (additional option), digital photographs or other imported images.
Programming
Pages can be programmed with level changing buttons which automatically change levels/pages when activated.
Messages can be programmed using single press core vocabularies (some are pre-programmed) or 2 sequence Minspeak (not pre-programmed) vocabularies
