Pocket Go Talk

Factors to Consider
The device is robust and can withstand rough handling which makes it useful for people who want to use it across a number of settings (i.e., in the community).
Speech can be recorded in any language to suit people from a non-English speaking background.
The device layout is set which may limit the use of the device by people with changing needs.
Level changing requires timed, fine motor movements that may be difficult for some users.
The built in handle, slim design and light weight make the device easy to carry for some users.
The membrane keypad may be harder to press than a keyboard with mechanical keys for users with low muscle strength.


Short Description
The Go Talk One, Pocket Go Talk and the Go Talk 4+, 9+ and 20+ electronic communication devices have digitised (human recorded) speech output. Messages can be stored on a number of different levels, depending on the model chosen and spoken by pressing a single key. The Go Talk + range of devices have a core row of messages that stay the same across each level of the device. The Pocket Go Talk is a compact model with 5 keys and the Go Talk One has a single message key.

The keyboard layout has 9 cells in a fixed array plus a core message row available for each level of 3 messages

Voice Output
Digitised (human recorded) speech output.
The volume can be adjusted.
Speech can be recorded in any language to suit people from a non English speaking background.

Visual Display
Paper overlays with pictures, symbols, photos can be inserted into the devices through slim slot on right side of device.
The units are green in colour.
A carry handle is built into the Go Talk 4+,9+ and 20+ devices on the top of the device in the middle
The volume control and level changing button are located on the front of the device.
Five green LED's displays are located above the level changing button as level location indicators.
The record , off / on, and erase switches are located on the back of the device to prevent accidental activation.
Unused overlays can be stored in compartment at the back of the device.

Print output is not available.

Accessing Options
Keys can be activated by pressing

Programming
No complicated commands or programming procedure.
An erase button is available for deleting whole levels.

Symbol Systems
Any symbol system such as COMPIC or PCS can be used on the overlays to represent the underlying message.
Overlay software for the Go Talks is available for purchase containing 1000 illustrations and photographs.

Batteries and Charging
Two AA batteries are included.
Minimal battery power is consumed when the device is on but not in use.
