SHORT DESCRIPTION
Makaton line drawings are black and white drawings of the Makaton hand signs. They depict the core Makaton vocabulary. This vocabulary is usually paired with key word sign and gestures adopted from Makaton signs or Auslan. Makaton signs are generally used by people who have speech and language difficulties, their carers, teachers and other support people.

FEATURES
The Makaton line drawings are based around the Makaton core vocabulary. This is part of a complete language program, which was developed in the UK.
The Makaton vocabulary is a small vocabulary of around 350 language concepts.
The program is designed for people who have receptive and expressive communication difficulties, their families, friends, carers, teachers, therapists and so on.
Generally Makaton is best known for its use of key word sign and speech, however it also has as part of its language program a symbol set.
Line drawing of signs are clear.
Makaton core vocabulary offers a range of vocabulary presented in developmental stages.


CONSIDERATIONS FOR USE
Participation in a workshop is recommended to become familiar with basic signs and their use.
