Short Description
The Etran communication board is a non electronic communication aid. It has an alpha numeric display in eight groupings around a rectangular opening on a clear perspex sheet. There are two styles available, one that uses colour coding and one that has white letters. The Etran board is designed for the person who is non verbal in order to communicate using spelling and eye contact with their communication partner.

Method of Use
Etran Board
To use the Etran board, the sender and receiver face each other at a distance of approximately 120 to 180 cm with the board between them. Eye contact should be possible through centre opening.
By watching the eye movements of the sender it is possible to spell words by following a simple planned sequence.
The receiver verbally confirms each letter and writes down the message.
Colour Coded Etran
Using the Colour Coded Etran is similar to the method of use to above, but in general the colour coding makes it easier to learn and understand.
The user looks at the area of the board in which the letter is contained and then looks at a colour so the listener may be able to more quickly predict the item being selected by the user.
