Albacmat Rescue Mat

Factors to Consider
The AlbacMat is an instant evacuation mat for the fast and safe removal of individuals unable to remove themselves from emergency situations.
It is a self contained unit that rolls out to the size and shape of a sleeping bag and can be fitted to a patient in seconds, enabling their evacuation in minutes.
It is versatile and compact.
It is an alternative to the stretcher - it can be used where a stretcher might not be used due to its pull and drag application.
The mat is able to go in tight spaces, around corners and up and down stairs.
Suitable for people up to approximately 1910mm in height.

Short Description
The AlbacMat is an evacuation mat consisting of a shroud bonded to a flexible board. The board allows the AlbacMat to glide over most types of surface including carpet, vinyl, concrete, bitumen and grass without building up heat. Two velcro straps restrain the patient while a foot pocket secures the feet. Various handles allow one person to safely evacuate patients from most hazardous situations. Available in two sizes.

More Details
Materials of frame
The external mat element of the product is made from a very rigid polypropylene plastic that is customised for the Albac Mat's specific use, as it can be creased and rolled.

Material of shroud
red nylon shroud bonded to a polycarbonate flexible board.
The material is corrugated so that it is hard wearing enough to roll down stairs. The internal material (where a patient would lie) is made from a strong weave canvas.
The larger model has a thermal blanket for patient comfort.
The foot pocket also forms the function of the self-storing unit by rolling the mat back inside this area. There are three external straps that can be used to move the patient.
The mat comes in fire engine red and the three external straps are bright yellow.

Method of Movement
Occupant is pulled over surface by attendants.

Securing options
There are two hook & loop straps (three on the larger model) that lock the individual into place - one across the chest and one across the knees ( one across the hips on the larger model).
A semi closed foot pocket exists to further keep individuals in place and allows patients to rest their feet.

Application
Designed for single user. The polypropylene exterior helps make the mat manoeuvrable by anyone of any size.
Two people can also manoeuvre it.
Can be used to evacuate more than one patient from a bed, chair, bathroom or from the floor.
Can be used to evacuate immobile people from nursing homes, hospitals, airplanes, trains, pubs, clubs or even schools and hotels in the event of a fire or similar emergency.
Provides safe evacuation over all types of surfaces, including stairs.

Models
AlbacMat Rescue Mat
Designed for aged care and general public use.

AlbacMat with Thermal Cover
Larger design for specific use in emergency services and mining areas but is also suitable for aged care and general public use.
Wider design at torso.
Carry handles, three on each side, plus handles at the head and feet allow for 6-8 person carry if required.
Extra body strap at hips.
Thermal blanket for patient comfort and safe restraint of those who might try to remove themselves from the mat while in transit.

Method Of Use
Simple instructions are printed on the self storage pocket for easy reference in an emergency.
Movers must have their backs straight (for occupational health and safety considerations) and the different strap lengths cater for different sized people.
The patient needs to be rolled onto the mat from a level surface.

Options
AlbacMat Holder
Holds four AlbacMats underneath each other, of either size, for easy storage and quick access.
Can be carried to the site of the emergency where the four mats are ready for immediate use.
