Factors to Consider
There are many things to consider when selecting pressure care products including nutrition, skin moisture, level of mobility, age, shear, friction, location of pressure ulcer (if present) and hygiene. Any comments regarding level of pressure care is a suggestion made by suppliers as a guide to assist with selection, and this may differ from brand to brand. When selecting pressure care products it is strongly advised that a comprehensive assessment is undertaken by a health professional to encourage correct product selection and monitoring of product effectiveness.
Jay cushions are designed to fit the individual dimensions of the user. Sunrise Medical are able to add foam rails to their Jay range of cushions to extend seat width or depth. This may assist if the dimensions of the user and the wheelchair vary. This can be completed at no additional cost at time of ordering.
Short Description
This cushion is designed for a bariatric user providing the positioning and pressure reduction of the Jay J2 cushion with an additional load capacity. The cushion consists of a moulded base of closed cell foam and the choice of three inserts into the seat well area to enable the cushion to be modified for a user from low to high risk of pressure sore development.

Features
Seat Well Insert Packages
For a user at low risk of skin breakdown, both standard and custom foam packages are available. This features layers of visco foam that are positioned in the seat well.
For a user with higher risk of developing pressure sores, Jay fluid pad inserts are available.
Cushion Cover Options
The Tritex air exchange cover is designed to promote air circulation. It has a zipper closure.
A continence resistant low shear cover is another alternative available. It features a zipper closure.
There is an optional urethane overlay cover which is removable for additional incontinence protection.
Anterior Sloped Cushion Base
The base is designed to provide a slight anterior tilt. The manufacturer states that this can open up the hip angle encouraging a more upright posture.
