Factors to Consider
Some medical sheepskins have been tested to meet Australian Standard AS 4480.1 (1997). Sheepskins meeting this standard are able to be thermally or chemically treated to meet hospital infection control standards.
Sheepskins may be labelled as urine or faecal resistant.
Size required, eg. Is the sheepskin for use in a bed or a chair? Does the size require customising?
Colour of pile - blue pile can be laundered at 600 Celsius while green pile can be laundered at a higher temperature of 800 Celsius.
Cleaning requirements - washing and drying.
Softness of pile required.
Need for attachments to hold sheepskin in place on bed or chair.
