Roho Toilet Seat Cushion

Factors to Consider
For an individual who requires use of a pressure care cushion it is significant to consider alternative seating surfaces when not in their primary seating system. Use of a pressure care cushion on a toilet seat or static commode chair may provide consistency of pressure care when using such facilities.
There are many things to consider when selecting pressure care products including nutrition, skin moisture, level of mobility, age, shear, friction, location of pressure ulcer (if present) and hygiene. Any comments regarding level of pressure care is a suggestion made by suppliers as a guide to assist with selection, and this may differ from brand to brand. When selecting pressure care products it is strongly advised that a comprehensive assessment is undertaken by a health professional to encourage correct product selection and monitoring of product effectiveness.

Short Description
This cushion is designed to be placed directly onto a toilet seat or the seat of a bedside commode chair. It consists of two crescent shaped components designed to conform to the rounded shape of a standard plastic toilet seat. It features a series of cells which can move independently and are filled with air. The manufacturer reports this as being Dry Flotation technology, enabling the user to be immersed in the cushion and be supported by air.

Dry Flotation Technology
The manufacturer states there are 4 principles of the Dry Flotation Technology.
Roho cushions are constructed of individual cells that can move independently of each other, enabling the cushion to move with the user and contour to their shape.
The manufacturer states that the cellular design enables the user to immerse into the cushion creating low surface tension.
The manufacturer states that as a result of immersing into the cushion, forces and pressures pushing back against the person are kept equal at all points, resulting in greater contact area between the user and cushion.
