ILC Reference NO 81:56:012
Item sourced from ILC TAS database

Lever Door Handle

Short Description
A range of lever action door handles.

More Details
The Australian Standard, AS1428.1 - 2001, Design for Access and Mobility recommends that the door handle should allow the door to be unlocked and opened with one hand. They prefer lever handles as doorknobs do not provide an adequate grip for people with hand impairments.

Lever handles enable ease of grip and also benefit from the assistance of gravity. The handle should be such that the hand of a person who cannot grip will not slip from the handle during the operation of the latch.
