Short Description
Th Powerlink 2 operates as a remote control power point. It allows switch control of a standard mains powered appliance such as a lamp, tape player, radio. The unit has three different modes of operation including direct, timed and latched modes. It features an inbuilt infrared sensor, enabling it to be controlled with an Ablenet Airlink Infrared Switch.

More Details
It is a blue and chrome coloured metal box with a slightly slanted top panel. The appliance and the switch both plug into the top panel. There are 2 dials which, when rotated, allow selection of the mode of operation and the amount of time the appliance will stay on when in Timed Mode.

ACCESS
Three different operating modes can be used.

Direct Mode: activates the appliance while the switch is held down.

Timed Mode: allows the user to activate the appliance for a pre set length of time. A single activation of the switch turns the appliance on for the pre-set length of time and then automatically turns off.

The Powerlink 2 can be pre-set to operate an appliance for between 1 and 60 seconds (Timed Seconds Mode) or between 1 and 60 minutes (Timed Minutes Mode).

Latch Mode: activates the appliance with one switch press, then turns the appliance off with the next switch press.

The unit can be operated remotely using an infrared switch (Ablenet Airlink Switch). The infrared switch is sold separately.


POWER SOURCE
The 3 pin power plug of the Powerlink 2 is plugged into a mains power outlet.
The Powerlink will control appliances that consume up to 2400 watts of power.


PROGRAMMING
No programming is required.
The appliance may be turned on or off using this device.


Factors to Consider
The 3 different modes of switch operation available allow selection of the mode most suited to the user.
This device may be useful as a switch training device.
The timer mode function may assist a person with dementia as it switches off an appliance after a pre set time.

Additional Information
The PowerBox operates by switching the 240V supply to the appliance to be controlled. Some modern equipment have a standby mode and are not suitable for control by this method. To test that the appliance is suitable, turn the appliance power switch on if there is one, plug it directly into the wall socket and turn the power point switch on. If correct operation follows then the appliance will work with the PowerBox.
