Short Description
Eligible people with permanent disability may apply for taxi fare concessions. The concessions entitle a user to a 50% reduction when travelling in standard taxis. For people reliant on wheelchairs, there is a 60% fare reduction when travelling in wheelchair accessible taxis.
More Details
To apply, a 'Transport Access Scheme' application form must be submitted (this is the same form used to apply for parking concession). The applicant and a qualified medical or allied health practitioner are required to complete the form.
There is a range of eligibility criteria, including:
-a permanent and severe medical condition and:
-inability to manage steps or uneven ground without use of a complex walking aid (this may include a walking frame but does not include a walking stick) or
-total dependence on others for mobility or
-frequent need for assistance to travel from home to destination or
-major difficulty with steps and inclines
