This manual wheelchair carrier has a steel frame with a watertight fibreglass cover. It is mounted to the top of most passenger-carrying vehicles and light trucks. Both driver and passenger applications are available. A single rocker switch located in a handheld control box operates the lifting, folding and storing of the wheelchair. By attaching the carrier's lifting chains to the folded wheelchair and pressing the button, the wheelchair is lifted from the ground, turned horizontally and stored under the fibreglass cover, which is then completely sealed. One cycle takes approximately 30 seconds to complete. Power is provided by a 12 volt vehicle battery and reversible automotive-type motor.
