Short Description
Electric solid state turn signal device for drivers using hand controls. Consists of foam padded and vinyl covered switches which may be mounted at any location suitable to the driver's needs. eg on headrest for driver with quadriplegia. It may be transferred from one vehicle to another.

Connects to the original blinker system of any motor vehicle.
Operates right and left hand turn signals which self cancel in normal fashion or with a central cancel facility if required.
Hazard warning light switch may be incorporated.


Additional Comment
If advice about car modifications and a person's ability to drive is required, contact your nearest Occupational Therapy Department at a major hospital. Some Occupational Therapists have postgraduate qualifications in Driver Assessment and Retraining and can have access to modified vehicles for people to trial.

Licence & Insurance Requirements
Prior to converting a car, the Department of Transport must be notified about the change in medical condition that necessitates this conversion.

All car modifications must be inspected by the Department of Transport or licenced inspection agents. A demonstration of appropriate use of the adaption may be required. The driver's licence will require an endorsement stating that the modification will be a condition of driving.

Insurance companies should be notified of car modifications and any change in medical status as failure to do so may invalidate the cover provided.
