Alber Viamobil Attendant Controlled Motorised Conversion Kit

ILC Reference NO 43:40:002
Item sourced from ILC TAS database

PICTURE

Short Description
A kit designed to convert a manual, rear wheel drive or transit wheelchair, into an attendant controlled motorised wheelchair, that dismantles and folds.

Price Guide
Refer to supplier details for pricing.

More Details
The Viamobil kit consists of a wide wheel, motor and battery situated under the seat of the wheelchair, between the two rear wheels, and a control panel on the extended push handles.

When it is turned on, the large wheel lowers and takes the weight off the rear wheels.

The motor and wheel assembly slide into position from the rear, and fix to brackets under the seat. The battery is placed on top of the motor and fixed into place. Removable anti tip bars also attach to the rear of the wheelchair frame. They swing out of the way when backing up a curb.

The push handles are extended and the control box fits on one of the handles. The light touch lever is finger operated. Reverse is operated by flicking a switch. Steering is performed the same as if pushing a manual wheelchair. Speed is controlled by a dial.

Features
TRANSPORTING is achieved by disconnecting and removing the battery, removing the locking pins and sliding the motor and wheel out, and removing the control box. The wheelchair can then be folded as usual.

FREEWHEELING is performed by switching the Viamobil off, so the central wheel will raise. The motor and wheel assembly and battery can also be removed for freewheeling.

BATTERY CHARGING is achieved by connecting the battery charger provided to a mains power point and plugging it into the chair at the marked charging terminal.
A 12 volt charging cable is also available that works from the cigarette lighter socket of a car.

BATTERIES are sealed wet cell, stored in plastic containers under the seat.

CONTROLS include a light touch lever on the push handle, speed control dial, battery charge indicator, on off button, and forward reverse switch.

BRAKES are electromagnetic when the unit is on, with standard manual wheelchair brakes.
