Short Description
Designed as an alternative to bed rails to maintain a restless or confused person in bed. The zippered cocoon encases the mattress and bed clothes in a similar manner to a sleeping bag. It consists of a base sheet which is held in place around the bed base by adjustable straps (giving the appearance of a valance). The bed is made as usual and the net or doona overlay zippered in place.

The top sheet is zippered onto the top of the base sheet which is held onto the base using straps.
Two versions are available: Male pattern and Female pattern.
Webbing handles at each corner of the valance sheet enable the cocoon encased mattress and client to be quickly unclipped and removed from the mattress base for evacuation, dragged along the floor. It is important that the straps are securely attached to the bed base (not the mattress), and if the bed features a rising backrest than the straps are attached around the backrest to allow normal bed function.
