Short Description
Domiciliary Care SA is a community based, government organisation that operates in metropolitan Adelaide, South Australia. Domiciliary Care SA provides equipment and home modifications via Domiciliary Equipment Service (DES).

Features
ELIGIBILITY:
Domiciliary Care SA assists frail older people over 65 years of age, younger people with a disability (who are not eligible for another scheme), and palliative care clients.

An eligibility screening process is completed over the phone by the Metropolitan Access Team to determine eligibility and priority for Domiciliary Care SA services. Priority will be given to people who are vulnerable or who have special needs.

Clients of community based organisations require a referral from their case coordinator, health professional or GP.

Private hire clients require a referral form from their GP or a hospital health professional.

EQUIPMENT PROVIDED:
Examples of equipment provided:
Bedding - Electric beds, pressure mattresses, bed cradles, bedrails/sticks, over bed tables.
Daily Living Aids - small aids to assist with feeding, dressing, washing etc.
Mobility Aids - Walking Frames, walking canes, and basic manual wheelchairs.
Manual Handling - Hoists, slings, self help poles, transfer boards, slide sheets, bed/chair blocks and platforms.
Bathing & Toileting - Shower chairs/stools, bathboards, shower hoses, raised toilet seat, commodes.
Pressure Care - Mattresses, cushions, sheepskins etc.
Continence Aids - Absorbent sheets, bedpans, urinals.
Other - Electric recliner chairs, portable ramps, bariatric equipment, dietary supplements.

HOME MODIFICATIONS PROVIDED:
Examples of home modifications provided:
Ramps - Threshold ramps, access ramps (all wooden)
Rails - Grabrails, hand/banister rails (stainless steel or white only)
Other - Half steps, other basic modifications.

COSTS:
Domiciliary Care SA charges a fee for equipment purchase/rental and basic home modifications. Pensioners may be eligible for a concession rate. Fee waivers are available for those people who meet the waiver eligibility criteria.
