Disability Housing SA is established within the metropolitan Adelaide region, primarily to provide rental accommodation for adults with a physical disability who require a wheelchair for their mobility.

Disability Housing SA is managed by a voluntary Board which is comprised of representatives from the community housing sector, the disability area, tenants and other interested persons.
Its purpose is to provide low cost, long-term, accessible, secure accommodation.
Disability Housing SA negotiates with the South Australian Community Housing Authority (SACHA) for the provision of a number of houses per year. These houses are modified or purpose built to cater for the individual needs of Wheelchair Homes approved tenants.
Any adult with primarily a physical disability who needs to use a wheelchair for their mobility may apply. They then will be assessed and placed on the Wheelchair Homes Register for the allocation of available housing.
