Factors To Consider
The force required to turn the tap.
Ease of grip and manipulation.
Ease of identification - hot and cold, on and off.
Ease of operation.
Ease and cost of installation.
The various people using the taps.

Lever taps with ceramic discs eliminate the need for a twisting action. They do not need to be turned off very hard in order to stop them dripping.
Dyna value washers do not need to be turned off tightly to stop the tap dripping.
Tap turners increase the leverage on a range of taps and are especially helpful for people with weak or painful hands.
Taps can be modified so that a brass lever is permanently fixed to the body of the tap.
Spring loaded taps are useful for people with memory loss.
Lever taps may require unfamiliar movements, but require only a light touch.
Some taps combine several features in the one product eg. a single lever tap with thermostatic mixing valve to control water temperature.
Anti-scald devices - these look similar to an aerator and are fitted on the end of the water outlet (spout). Anti-scald devices can also be fitted to the hot water supply piping and have a valve which reacts to water temperature at a certain level; if a rise in temperature is detected by the valve it automatically reduces water flow.
Attention should be paid to the ability of the user to reach and use the taps effectively and safely eg. person in a wheelchair must be able to reach and use taps from a seated position.
Ensure that there is adequate clearance space between tap handle, especially if a lever handle and nearby wall, bench top, basin or other plumbing fixture.
