Factors To Consider
The space the washing machine has to fit into.
The soundness of the floor the machine has to go on.
The space needed for the door/lid to open fully.
The ease of loading and unloading the machine.
The ease of seeing and operating the controls.
The outlet needed for the waste water.
The capacity needed (usually given in kilograms).
The speed of spin drying (faster spinning means drier clothes).
Ease of cleaning the lint filter.
Length and conditions of warranty.

When selecting a system, consider:
Clothes can be pulled straight from a front-loading machine into a basket on the floor.
A small capacity top-loading machine with a small bowl may be accessible.
A reaching aid can be used to get washing from the washing machine.
An accessible place for detergent storage or for folding clothes may be helpful.
Small articles like socks and pantihose can be tied up in a pillowcase or stocking bag so they can be easily retrieved.
A rocker on/off switch may be easier; dials with cross-bars or touch controls may be easier.
A person who experiences pain or difficulty bending over may find a top-loading machine with a basket placed on the same level the easiest to use.
