Lockwood Braille Signage - Baby Change model

Short Description
A range of plastic braille and tactile signs designed to assist users with a visual impairment. Feature white tactile and braille elements on a blue background to create a luminous contrast. A range of signage options are available.

More Details
The signs consists of an embossed tactile design, English text and Braille lettering. The embossed components use standard imagery and fonts to ensure vision impaired non-Braille readers can decipher the sign. The standard Braille locator symbol is on the left-hand side of the plate in line with the Braille elements. Sign corners and all embossed elements incorporate rounded corners.

The signs have a "peel-off and stick adhesive" mounting.

The signs are made from ABS plastic.

Installation
The signs are supplied with a single piece of adhesive backing enabling "peel off and stick" mounting. The manufacturer suggests that the signs should not be located on the door itself but rather on the wall adjacent to the door, on the latch side. The tactile and Braille components of the signs should be positioned between 1200mm and 1600mm from the floor and the sign should be placed at a minimum of 50mm from the frame.

The Building Code of Australia (BCA) specifies signage requirements in Section D3.6 - Identification of accessible facilities, services and features. The BCA details where accessible signage is required.

The Australian Standard "AS1428.4 - Design for access and mobility - Part 4 - Tactile indicators" provides specifications on the form and placement of signs required to be tactile, Braille or audio.

Cleaning Requirements
Dirt and grime should be regularly removed with a soft damp cloth. A solution of mild soap and water may be required.
