Short Description
A wide range of mowers are available to suit the needs of different gardeners. Mowing the lawn can be more manageable if the task is broken down, so that the whole lawn is not mowed in one session. The grass should not be cut too closely as this makes it harder to push the mower.

Models
HAND CYLINDER MOWERS
Very light and easy to push. Also easy to manoeuvre in confined spaces. Not as powerful as the powered mowers and therefore the task can take a lot longer to finish. A quiet mower.

ELECTRIC POWERED MOWERS
Light and easy to push. Some models hover above the ground on an air cushion. Not suitable for users requiring extra stability when walking. The cable may cause a hazard and can get caught on trees and other items in the garden area. A quiet mower. The controls are often at the top of the handles.

BATTERY POWERED MOWERS
Tend to be heavier than electrically powered mowers. No cable.

PETROL MOWERS
Good for cutting long grass. Vibrates and can be noisy. A heavy mower.

DRIVEN vs UNDRIVEN MOWERS
On a driven mower the motor propels the mower and the cutting blades. On an undriven mower the motor drives the blades only, which means the attendant needs to push the mower. Some attendants may find a driven mower too fast and difficult to keep up with.
