Short Description
A battery powered unit designed to carry a person in a manual, rear wheel drive wheelchair up and down stairs. It climbs the stairs on two sets of wheels, with the wheelchair attached to the unit. Will travel up and down straight or curved stairs. Dismantles.

Price Guide
Refer to supplier information for pricing details.

Features
The stairclimber consists of a motor and two sets of wheels at the base and adjustable height handles for the attendant and an adjustable height headrest for the occupant.

The climbing action is by two wheels going up one stair, followed by the other pair with the wheelchair. The wheels have automatic brakes, so they will not roll.

The operating switch is on the push handle, with a speed control. The stepping can be set at continuous or one at a time and stop.

A training programme is necessary to operate the equipment safely.

The upright struts have clamps to secure the machine to the backrest of the wheelchair.

Models
SCALAMOBIL is designed for use with one wheelchair, so that it locks into fixed brackets on the wheelchair and the quick release, rear wheels are then removed before stair climbing. (Quick release wheels can be installed if not already present)

SCALAMOBIL WITH SCALAPORT is a more general use stairclimber with a universal frame capable of holding almost any rear wheel drive wheelchair without requiring custom fittings. The wheelchair is mounted by rolling backwards into the curved frame and clamping the backrest in position.
