Short Description
A four wheeled, rear wheel drive scooter with thumb and finger operated controls. Available in four models.

More Details
This scooter has an epoxy coated steel frame, moulded fibreglass body and slip resistant matting on the foot platform.

The seat has vinyl or fabric upholstery, a fold down backrest and a manual locking swivel mechanism. The armrests adjust to allow for greater seat width. The seat position may be altered by moving the bolts underneath the seat.

The tiller angle is adjustable.

TRANSPORTING the scooter is facilitated by folding down the tiller, removing the seat and batteries, pulling out the connector pin from main frame and separating the front section from the rear section.

FREEWHEELING mechanism is operated by a lever situated under the rear cowling next to the wheel.

BATTERY CHARGING is achieved by connecting the charger provided to a mains power point and plugging it into the scooter at the marked charging terminal on the tiller.

BATTERIES two batteries stored in separate fibreglass boxes under the seat, held in place with webbing straps. Amps depend on model.

FRONT AND REAR WHEELS are 330mm (13") diameter, pneumatic tyres.

FOOTSPACE is flat platform with slip resistant floor matting.

SEAT has lift up and width adjustable armrests and fold down backrest.

CONTROLS are a flat, rocker style for acceleration and reverse functions, a speed control knob with fast / slow indicators, lights to indicate battery status, horn and key operated power switch.

BRAKES are electromagnetic.

BASKET is standard with all models and attaches to the front of the tiller.

Shoprider 889E
Scooter with a long wheel base designed for outdoor use. Features a front tiller basket and straight foam covered handlebars

Shoprider 889ERS
Same features as the 889E model, but with larger batteries (2 x 36Amp batteries) and larger motor with a wrap-around style foam covered handlebar.

Shoprider 889SL
Scooter with a longer and wider wheel base designed for outdoor use, with a wide modesty panel.

Invacare Shoprider 889SL Deluxe
Invacare model (available from Home Health Equipment stores) is the same as the standard Shoprider 889SL but features pillow-top seat padding.

Licence & Insurance Requirements
As of May 1998, a licence is no longer required in South Australia for the use of powered wheelchairs and scooters.
