Short Description
A customisable mounting system for communication devices and laptop computers for people in manual or powered wheelchairs. The mount can be swung away to the side of the wheelchair or pulled back by a release cable. The device is not recommended for lightweight manual or tilt in space wheelchairs.

METHOD OF USE: This mount can be `pushed` away from the user in the manner of a gate. Once positioned away , the mount is locked with a spring operated pin. The pin is released by a cable running horizontally underneath the device. The lock can be released by a carer or the user.
ASSEMBLY: The mount is attached via a frame clamp permanently attached to the tubing of the wheelchair designed to allow easy removal of the mount itself as required. The device is attached via a mounting plate affixed to the base of the device that connects with a wedge-like fixture at the head of the mount.
COMMENTS:
An additional mounting plate is required for attaching device to this mount.
CAUTION:
It is recommended that a counter weight be installed on the wheelchair for times when the device is swung away.
When the Locking Swing-away Mount is swung away the device is located outside the wheels of the wheelchair which makes it vulnerable to collision if the wheelchair is driven.
GENERAL PRESCRIPTION CONSIDERATIONS:
Wheelchair type: Daessy mounts can be purchased for lightweight manual to heavier power chairs however not all Daessy mounts will be universally compatible with your chair
Type of device: Some Daessy mounts may be more suitable than others for the specific communication device your client is considering
Ability of user: Whether the client of carer to perform swing away or side folding action of the mount arm will affect which Daessy mount os more suitable./
Storage / removal of mount: Where will the device be mounted and does it need to be removed / replaced quickly. This will affect mount selected
Clamp type: Do you require a round or a square frame clamp for your chair?
Frame clamp size; All Daessy mounts come with a 1 inch (25mm) clamp as standard. This may no suit your chair. Larger clamps are available on request.
INSTALLATION & MAINTENANCE:
All non locking mounts must be removed and all locking mounts must be locked when travelling in a motor vehicle
Bolts on mount should be checked and tightened on a regular basis
CUSTOMISABLE:
A range of alternate tube lengths and clamp options are available on request.
CAUTION:
The device is not recommended for lightweight manual as the wheelchair can tip when the mount is in a 'swung away' position.
The mount is also not recommended for tilt in space chairs as it can interfere with the tilt mechanism.
