Short Description
A customisable mounting system suitable for communication devices and laptop computers for people using manual or powered wheelchairs. It features an over-and-behind folding motion that stores the device behind the backrest of the wheelchair. This allows transfer access to the chair, without increasing the chair's overall width. This device is not recommended for tilting wheelchairs and self propelled manual wheelchairs.

ASSEMBLY:
The mount is attached via a frame clamp permanently attached to the tubing of the wheelchair itself but can be readily lifted out of the clamp when required. The device is secured by a wedge-like mounting plate and fixture (Quick Release System) that also allows easy attachment and removal.
IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS:
It is recommended that you attach a counter weight to the chair for when the device is folded away at the rear.
Not suitable for tilting wheelchairs as device folds away behind the user
Not recommended for self propelled manual wheelchairs as the mount can obstruct capacity to self propel.
GENERAL PRESCRIPTION CONSIDERATIONS:
Wheelchair type: Daessy mounts can be purchased for lightweight manual to heavier power chairs however not all Daessy mounts will be universally compatible with your chair
Type of device: Some Daessy mounts may be more suitable than others for the specific communication device your client is considering.
Ability of user: Whether the client or the carer performs the swing away or side folding action of the mount arm will affect which Daessy mount is more suitable.
Storage / removal of mount: Where will the device be mounted and does it need to be removed / replaced quickly. This will affect mount selected.
Clamp type: A round or a square frame clamp is available.
Frame clamp size; All Daessy mounts come with a 1 inch (25mm) clamp as standard. Larger clamps are available on request.
INSTALLATION / MAINTENANCE:
All non locking mounts must be removed from wheelchair and all locking mounts must be locked into position when travelling in a motor vehicle.
Bolt on mounts should be checked and tightened on a regular basis.
Do not over tighten pinch clamps as this can damage tubing.

ANGLE OF ROTATION:
The side tube can rotate from 45 degrees forward to 45 degrees backwards. This allows the horizontal tube to rotate at right angles to position the device in front of the user and to 'store' it behind the user when not in use.
ATTACHMENT:
The Clamp is standard one inch (25mm) and can attach to the left or right side of the chair. It can also be removed altogether if required.
