Short Description
A portable, satellite based emergency response system. The device can be used to send the user's location - with a link to Google Maps - and a pre-programmed message to nominated email addresses and mobile phones. The device also has a SOS button which will contact Australian Search and Rescue Regional Communication Centre with the device's location information when pressed. All messages sent from the device are sent via the Globalstar satellite network, mobile phone service coverage is not required. The device is rated for water resistant up to a depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. Subscription to SPOT service plan is required.

Method of use:
SOS: Use in the event of a life threatening or other critical emergency to notify emergency services of user's GPS location and that the user needs assistance. The Australian Search and Rescue Regional Communication Centre or GEOS International Emergency Response Center will then alert the appropriate agencies worldwide - for example contacting 9-1-1 responders in North America and 1-1-2 responders in Europe.
Help: In the event of a non-life threatening emergency, this function can be used to notify personal contacts when the user needs assistance. An SMS text message including coordinates, or an email with a link to Google Maps of the user's location will be sent to nominated contacts when the help function is activated.
Check-in/OK: A pre-programmed message can be sent along with GPS location to nominated contacts for check-in.
Track Progress: This feature allows user to send and save his/her location and allow contacts to track the GPS location in near real time using Google Maps (optional subscription required).

Range: The device needs a clear view of sky for optimal GPS performance and accuracy, it may not be reliable when used indoors, in a cave or in very dense woods. The satellite network covers virtually all of the continental United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Australia, portions of South America, Northern Africa, and North-Eastern Asia. GPS accuracy may be degraded in Russia due to regulations restricting the accuracy of GPS performance for devices utilized in Russia.
