Short Description
Hand held device that detects and announces colour of a surface it is pointed to. When switched on it beeps until placed on surface with no light infiltrating the sensor. The device then announces basic colour and shade, for example, "very light blue". The device is useful for people who cannot identify colours due to a vision impairment or colour blindness.

Developed to offer an auditory way of seeing colours for those with visual impairments. When the unit is held against any surface such as paper, cloth, wood, plastic, food etc the colour will be spoken. The answer is said automatically within 3 seconds. The Talking Colour Detector can also act as a light detector.
The device is supplied with a clip on cover to protect the sensors while being carried in a pocket and an earphone which turns the speaker off to avoid disturbing others. The cover clips onto the back of the case when the device is being used. The case has been designed for both right and left handed use and can be held in several different ways.
It is powered by 1 x PP3 9v alkaline battery (supplied).
