ILC Reference NO 61:52:023
Item sourced from ILC QLD database

Induction Loop System

Short Description
The system comprises one or more microphones to collect the sound that you want to hear, an amplifier to boost the signal and a "loop" laid around the room. The sound is transmitted via a magnetic field from the "loop" of cable in the room to the "telecoil" in the hearing aid, cochlear implant or loop receiver. Used in conjunction with the T-switch or loop reciever, these systems enable the person to sit within the designated area and recieve clear, distortion-free sound without any background noise. The amplifiers range from small models for home use, portable models for small to medium halls and powerful units for large meeting halls.

FEATURES: It is possible to connect the loop amplifier to an existing PA system or to connect speakers to some of the loop amplfiers. The size of the amplifier depends on the number of metres cable required.
Microphones can be cordless or plugged in and a number of options are available. For example, an FM system microphone, transmitter and reciever can be connected to a loop amplifier and cable. This increases the portability of the microphone and removes the need to issue FM recievers to each person who is hard of hearing.
