Short Description
Communication displays are pages of pictures and/or letters and words which a person with complex communication needs can point to in order to communicate with another person.

Features
A communication display is made using one or more symbol sets. Symbols include letters, words, phrases or any specially designed symbol systems.
Depending on the communication system needs of the user, pictures or photographs may feature on communication displays. For somebody with a significant visual impairment, small objects or raised symbols may be used.
Communication displays may incorporate a colour coding system to allow the user and "listener" to locate certain groups of symbols quickly.
Communication displays may be used to express needs and ideas, communicate unique information, ask questions and/or participate in conversations.



Models
A communication display is made using one or more symbol sets. Symbols include letters, words, phrases or any specially designed symbol systems.


Method Of Use
People may point to the symbols with their finger or hand, or they may use a hand-held pointer, a head or chin pointer, or even a small light pointer to indicate the symbol they wish to use.

A keyguard may be added onto a low tech board.
