Short Description
Free information sessions for older drivers to revise and learn new road rules. The aim of the Years Ahead program is to assist older motorists to drive safely for longer by being aware of their own capabilities. This program offers a range of initiatives to assist older drivers with road safety issues affecting them. This is a 90-minute group discussion-based presentation covering age-related safety issues, awareness and application of road rules.

SERVICE INCLUDES: The Years Ahead program was launched in August 2000.

The Years Ahead program offers a range of initiatives to assist older drivers with road safety issues affecting them, including:
-Years Ahead workshop presentations
-The RACQ Refresh handbook
-The Years Ahead refresher drive

While developed primarily for Queensland’s older drivers, the Years Ahead program is also of benefit for:
-Friends and family of older drivers
-Community groups who coordinate activities involving older drivers
-Older drivers visiting or retiring in Queensland

Primarily operated within South-East Queensland with regional trips conducted every 2 years.

OPERATION: The Years Ahead Program operates primarily within the South East Queensland regions with regional sessions on a biennial basis. Contact the Driver Education Unit for details.

COMMENTS: Available free-of-charge to any community organisation or sporting group at their own venue.
