Short Description
A vest which is used to position and restrain children and adults in a vehicle or wheelchair. Available in a range of closures and mounting systems. The vest can be placed on the user before entering the vehicle and is clipped into place at four points - each side of the waist and shoulders. The vest releases quickly in the event of an accident. The vest is a positioning belt only and must be used in conjunction with a seat belt when used in a vehicle. Crotch strap and other accessories optional.

MOUNT: Four types of mounting systems are available: Portable Seat Mount; Permanent Floor Mount: Tether Strap Mount; Wheelchair Mount.
POINTS TO CONSIDER: A doctor`s letter is required when using this device. The letter needs to state that the user is exempt on medical grounds from using a standard seatbelt. The letter must accompany the user at all times as it applies to all travel in a vehicle.
COMMENTS: Can be used in any family vehicle, bus or wheelchair with appropriate mounting strap.
Provides upper body support for stability and to assist stopping some individuals escaping.
SAFETY: Although the vest meets USA and International standards, it has not been tested for Australian standards. It therefore must be used in conjunction with a fitted seat belt.
Models
There are two models - the standard E-Z On Vest and the Modified Vest. The modified vest is designed to cater for children who have to be transported in a lying (either supine or prone) position eg. someone in a body cast, long leg cast or hip spica. There is a child model and an adult model of each vest. Both are available in a range of sizes from Extra Small to Extra Extra Large. As the vests are not adjustable in size, correct measurement is essential to select the right size. It is suggested to measure the person's waist over a bulky coat.

Installation
Any of the four mounting types can be used in buses or vans.
In a car, especially the front seat of a car, the portable seat mount is best used.
For the rear seat, a tether strap is bolted to the rear window panel or in the boot.
For wheelchair use, a wheelchair mounting strap is used which crosses at the back and loops around the frame of the wheelchair.
Method Of Use
Place the vest on the user, ensuring the insignia is on the left front.
Position the person on the seat and clip the shoulder and waist loops to the tether strap. For the modified vest put on the vest and fasten the buckle closures in front.
Adjust to fit snugly.
Lay the child on the seat and fasten the leg belt around the child`s legs.
Thread the vehicles seat belts through the side loops in the vest and through the leg belt.
Place a pillow between the child`s head and the seat to minimize neck flexion during a collision.
