More Details
MATERIALS: Strong automotive belt material for webbing restraints. Floor tracking is heavy duty aluminium.

FEATURES: The restraint system has four points of attachment on the wheelchair: two at the front and two at the rear. The front webbing straps are fixed length with safety locking devices that can be operated single handed. The front webbing straps wrap around the front posts on the wheelchair frame, above the front castors. The rear straps are adjustable, with a large ratchet tensioning device, which allows the rear strap to be adjusted in length and tightened to prevent any wheelchair movement. At one end of the strap is the locking device that clips in place on the floor tracking. The rear straps attach to the rear of the wheelchair frame. The restraint secures the wheelchair to the vehicle. The system features dual point front belts, and easy over-centre clasp operation and teflon coated hook attachment to rear belts. The belts are colour coded to identify front (red) and rear (blue) belts.

METHOD OF USE: 1. Wheel wheelchair over the tracking, brakes off.
2. Secure two front restraints around the wheelchair and into the tracking.
3. Pull wheelchair backward and put brakes on.
4. Attach rear straps to the wheelchair and the tracking. Using tensioning buckle, ensure the wheelchair is securely held in place.
Reverse procedure to remove wheelchair.

INSTALLATION: The wheelchair restraint system must be used with in conjunction with an occupant restraint belt whenever a person travels seated in the wheelchair. The system includes lap sash and lap safety belts for occupant.
Queensland transport requires that modifications comply with the Australian Design Rules and the QT Code of Practice and that devices are installed to manufacturers instructions. Modifications must be performed by an authorised modifier. Major modifications must be approved by the Queensland transport vehicle safety and operations section or the approved person scheme. Once approved, a certificate of modification will be provided and issued with a modification plate. For further information regarding installation and approval requirements contact your local Queensland Transport customer service centre.

COMMENTS: When purchasing a vehicle wheelchair restraint, consider also other vehicles in which the person may travel in their wheelchair (eg taxis, school bus etc.). This may influence the choice of restraint which is chosen for the family / individual`s vehicle, as not all restraint fittings or modifications that are required on a wheelchair are compatible with all restraint systems

SAFETY: As the restraint system is comprised of webbing straps and locking devices, it is essential the restraint is placed in storage when not in use, as it can be damaged if run over by a wheelchair or walked on.

MAINTENANCE: The webbing should be checked regularly for signs of wear or fraying. Nicks greater than 1mm necessitates replacement. The product must be replaced immediately after it has been worn during a collision. No restraint system is considered safe to use with the occupant of a scooter travelling while sitting in the scooter. The occupant of a scooter must transfer to a normal vehicle seat for the journey.

CLEANING: The floor tracking needs to be cleaned on a regular basis (vacuumed, or brushed to remove any dirt) to ensure the restraint can lock into the tracking correctly.
The restraint straps can be washed with warm soapy water. Abrasives or chemical cleaners should not be used.
