Car Top Hoist

Short Description
The auto lifter enables one helper to transfer a person who uses a wheelchair from the wheelchair to the car seat and vice versa. It can be set to give access to the front or back seat of the vehicle. It consists of a section permanently attached to a rack on the roof of the car and a detachable hydraulic assembly.

More Details
This steel frames hoist consists of a vehicle roof mounted frame and a detachable jack assembly. The hoist attaches to a sling which is placed under the wheelchair user. The hoist will hydraulically lift the user up and down. Manual force is required to move the person in and out of the vehicle. One sling style and size only is available. The hoist is suitable for most types of vehicles including sedans, wagons, vans and four wheel drives.

Features
MOUNTING: The auto lifter is attached to the gutter mounts of vehicles. For vehicles without gutter mounts, holes need to be drilled into the vehicle roof.

INSTALLATION: See an automotive engineer for assistance with installation.

SLINGS: consists of a strong canvas sling with an integrated cushion. The sling encompasses the trunk and upper legs. The sling is available in two sizes - small and large.

DISMANTLING - the hydraulic jack assembly is removed from the roof of the vehicle during transit.

HYDRAULIC CONTROLS: consist of a jack handle protruding from the roof of the vehicle which is pumped to raise the client. There is a release knob which is turned to lower the person. The system is designed to be used by an attendant. Horizontal movement of hoist is not powered, therefore, the helper may be required to slide the person into the car against gravity if the car was parked on a sideways slope.

PEOPLE USEFUL FOR: People using a wheelchair who are unable to transfer themselves into vehicles and have a person available to assist them. This device removed the requirements for lifting a person in and out of a car.

COMMENTS: When ordering: The make of vehicle needs to be specified to determine the size required. A version for high vehicles such as vans and large 4wd vehicles is available.
