COMMENTS: There are two types of seating modifications and a different class of officer to approve each:-
1) Simple installation jobs where the old seat is removed and a new seat bolted in in its place. These modifications can be carried out by any LK1 authorised officer who is a technician.
2) Structural changes to seating which are more complex and require changes to fittings or fixtures (e.g. adding additional seat, new seat belt anchor points). These modifications will change the compliance plate on the vehicle chassis and must be approved by a LK2 authorised officer who is an engineer.
Contact your nearest Queensland Transport Customer Service Centre to find the local authorised officer.
For any of the above changes to vehicle seating it is essential to advise your insurer. If changes are not notified then the insurance cover may become invalid.
